New Playground Installed at Country View Elementary

Country View Elementary School celebrated the grand opening of its new playground on September 11, 2024. The playground was made possible thanks to a generous R.A.M.P grant, community donations, and the tireless efforts of school staff, parents, and community members.

The ribbon-cutting ceremony was attended by school officials, local dignitaries, parents, and excited students. Principal Mary Heslop expressed her gratitude to everyone who contributed to the project, highlighting the dedication and hard work of the school community.

The new playground is a testament to the power of collaboration and community spirit. Principal Heslop added "This will benefit their education by allowing them to release energy, build social connections, and come back to the classroom ready to learn."

The playground features a variety of play equipment, including slides, swings, climbing structures, and imaginative play areas. The new space is designed to promote physical activity, social interaction, and creativity among students.

"The community all came together and made it happen," said Amber Jones, the Country View PTA President. She was impressed with how quickly it happened once everyone got involved.

The playground project was funded in part by a grant from Weber County R.A.M.P  and through fundraising efforts by the school's PTA and community members. The school also received generous donations from local businesses and countless individuals.

The new playground is expected to benefit students for years to come and serve as a valuable community resource.

Country View was built in 1979 in, what was at that time, open space, hence the name. Since that time, many subdivisions have been created and we are now in the heart of several great communities. Over 550 students, from three different areas, (Hooper, Roy, and West Haven) attend school at Country View, which includes grades K-6. We also have two sessions of Head Start. With 26 teachers and a wonderful staff, we are very much a student-centered school. After graduating 6th grade our students attend Rocky Mountain Jr. High, and then Freemont High to finish their education in the Weber School District.

We are highly focused on reading and math, along with the other essential subjects that will help our students succeed in life. We are technologically competitive, with two computer labs; and a document camera and SMART board or slate in every classroom. We work hard to ensure that all students are safe and secure, and to help them gain confidence and knowledge in order to flourish in their educational pursuits.

Our mantra is “Taking Pride in All You Do,” which stresses to the students to do their best. Our mascot is the Colt which represents a strong will. We are very focused on being “green.” Recycling and planting trees are part of our charge. We are very proud of the students and faculty at our school, and we continue to strive together toward our goal of excellence in education and sound preparation for success throughout life.
